The Brown Mountain LightsBurke County, North Carolina
In the western hills of North Carolina stands a mountain that is not particularly striking, or even high, but it plays host to perhaps the strangest mystery in the state. The mountain is called Brown Mountain and it lies in the foothills of the Blue Ridge and for many years, it has attracted the attention of people all over the nation and even the attention of the United States government as two separate investigations have been conducted by the US Geological survey into the strange anomalies of this mountain.
The strange events that are occur here have been called the Brown Mountain Lights for more years than most can remember. They appear along the ridges of this mountain on a regular basis and are faithful enough that in clear weather, you can see them just about any night that you care to.
The best place to view them is at Wiseman’s View on Highway 105 near Morganton. Curiosity -seekers will line this stretch of road in the early evening hours and are rarely disappointed. By looking to the southeast, the watchers will suddenly see a light appear that is about the size of a basketball, or so it appears. The light will be reddish in color and it will hover in the air for a moment and then disappear. In a few minutes, it will appear again, but in another location and then all through the night, the lights will come and go, appearing and vanishing against the night sky.
As is normal with this kind of thing, almost every person sees the lights in a different way... some see them as white and bobbing; others as pale and stationary; while others see them coming and going quite rapidly.
Regardless, of how they are seen, they remain a mystery.
No explanation yet exists as to what the lights really are... although many have tried to solve the riddle. Some have suggested will-o’-the-wisp, that elusive gas that resides in swamps, and yet no swamps are found in this area. Others have suggested fox-fire or some sort of phosphorus; radium rays; strange gases; geological anomalies with the rocks; and more.... but all of them have been dismissed. Always popular is the explanation that the lights are simply headlight reflections from Rattlesnake Knob in the distance... but this hardly explains the fact that the lights were reported well before automobiles were even invented.
Some have even suggested that the lights could be firing of moonshine stills by liquor makers on the mountain and while this theory is certainly a romantic one, it has been quite some time since moonshine was made on the slopes of Brown Mountain.
As is the case with most ghost light reports.. there is a fantastic explanation and a spooky legend to explain the source of the lights.
The story dates back to 1850 and a night when a woman disappeared in the area. There was a general suspicion that the woman’s husband had murdered her and everyone in the community turned out to help search for her body. One night, while the search was on, strange lights appeared over Brown Mountain. They were not like lights that anyone had ever seen before and many believed they were the spirit of the dead woman, coming back to haunt her killer. The search ended without the woman being found.
Shortly after, the woman’s husband disappeared without a trace and many wondered what may have become of him. A number of years later, a skeleton belonging to a woman was found on Brown Mountain and the lights that had been seen during the search started to appear again.... and have been seen ever since.

Pere Cheney Cemetey/Duel Investigation with MPI
Metro Paranormal Investiagtors will be teaming up with Wind SPirits Paranormal Society on August the 24th and 25th. We will be doing a Meet and Greet and getting to know each others team members over a BBQ and swaping stories, at the campsite where we will be statying. The 25th we will be doing our duel investigation at Pere Cheney Cemetery.

This Picture is of little foot prints up the side of my Jimmy after leaving the cemetery. Ledgen has it the lost spirit children often times leave hand prints and foot prints on your car when you are at the cemetery late at night. It is hard to see the footprints but they are on the back window going upward toward the top of the car.
This Photo was taken by Derek, my former partner, on one of WSPS investigations to the PC cemetery.We found it very odd. The night air did show our breath but this photo looks like a phantom of some sort>>>
Orbs every where at the PC cemetery. Some are humidity some are dust but some could not be recreated only split seconds after taking the photos. The Orb Theory is being researched by Rich and Ericka Benson from Kinross Mi., WSPS Team members.

For me I have had days of rather unexplainable sadness, extreme fatigue, but things are much lighter now, at least for the moment! The Lamplight Inn in Central Lake Mi Results of investigation
This picture was taken at the Lamplight Inn Investigation. Look behind the lady in the white coat in the left middle of the picture, you can see a shadow figure behind her. During the debunking of this picture we took the shadow out of the picture but this shadow figure remained. One of our main debunkers had it examined by a professional photographer and he could not figure out what it was either. Did WSPS catch a ghostly figure amoung us that night? We think we did!
During a general walk through of the restaurant, all three levels we caught some high base readings on the EMF meter and the Thermal meter. Our base readings were .1 to .3 EMF and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The areas that caught the high readings were mostly debunked because of electrical systems and wiring through out the 3 floors. The temperature readings varied but were reading correctly on each floor as the temp was different on each floor. No cold spots indicated. No hot spots indicated.The top floor had some activity in Room 3 & 4. Orbs were caught in these rooms on our digital cameras. The Monkey in the closet was giving off a very high reading on the EMF but then was gone when checked later on in the evening. The main floor had some activity around the bar area. Some spikes in equipment.The basement & Michigan basement indicated most of the paranormal activity during this investigation. Picture with an entity in it. EVP’s picked up on digital recorder.The attic was also a point of interest that evening. Pictures were taken that validate the psychic, Meg’s reading. All Pictures and EVPs will be posted on the website after the reveal.Here are the personal opinions of WSPS Team members that evening.Suzie: I felt a little girl’s presence in the basement behind the bar. Also when I was in the Michigan basement I felt a presence there. My camera would not work till I asked permission to take the picture. Later after reviewing my pictures I notice that I had two pictures that showed a blue light anomaly. I did not take these pictures they just showed up on my camera.Over all I believe the Lamplight Inn to have paranormal activity. We all had personal experiences but the evidence clearly shows activity in the restaurant that evening.
